The West Highland Peninsulas
Many people use Ardnamurchan to refer to an area that is actually made up of five West Highland Peninsulas. There is Ardnamurchan itself, plus Ardgour, Moidart, Morvern and Sunart.
Together, these peninsulas on the north-west coast of Scotland have a landscape made up of rugged mountains, stunning coastlines, beautiful lochs, ancient woodlands and heather moorland. It is a place in which I was fortunate enough to live and photograph for 10 years. Please feel free to browse this website which contains a selection of my work from my time there.
A Year of Recovery
From adversity came a new way of seeing. What began as a long and uncertain road to recovery became a journey of resilience, hope, and creative renewal. Through 72 photographs, this collection celebrates not only the Peninsula's changing seasons, but also the quiet determination to overcome life's unexpected challenges—one step, one moment, and one image at a time. In July, I visited a few of my favourite corners of Moidart, seeking to capture a single, frozen minute of time in each. By setting the camera to a one-minute long exposure, I could soften the movement of the passing clouds while shafts of light pierced through, providing contrast that lent drama to the black-and-white images I hoped to….
