The West Highland Peninsulas

Map showing locations of Ardnamurchan, Moidart, Sunart, Ardour and Morvern - the West Highland Peninsulas on Scotland's north-west coast | Steven Marshall Photography

Many people use Ardnamurchan to refer to an area that is actually made up of five West Highland Peninsulas. There is Ardnamurchan itself, plus Ardgour, Moidart, Morvern and Sunart.

Together, these peninsulas on the north-west coast of Scotland have a landscape made up of rugged mountains, stunning coastlines, beautiful lochs, ancient woodlands and heather moorland. It is a place in which I was fortunate enough to live and photograph for 10 years. Please feel free to browse this website which contains a selection of my work from my time there.

A Year of Recovery

From adversity came a new way of seeing. What began as a long and uncertain road to recovery became a journey of resilience, hope, and creative renewal. Through 72 photographs, this collection celebrates not only the Peninsula's changing seasons, but also the quiet determination to overcome life's unexpected challenges—one step, one moment, and one image at a time. Twelve of these images are shown below.
