About Me
I am a Scottish landscape photographer and work out of my Studio at Rockpool House, on the shore of Loch Sunart and in the heart of the beautiful West Highland Peninsulas of Sunart, Morvern, Moidart, Ardgour and Ardnamurchan. I have a passion for photographing the landscape, coastline and night sky of this beautiful and unspoilt corner of Scotland.
Living here has allowed me to develop an intimate knowledge of the light and the landscape. I use this knowledge to maximise my chances of being in “the right place at the right time” and capture the essence of the landscape at its best. Photography such as this can mean taking hours to get a single image, be it planning and selecting the right location, waiting for a few hours at a time for the conditions to be right, or revisiting a place time and time again until you are there at that perfect moment. |
Quintessential wilderness such as this, marked by single-track roads, breath-taking emptiness and a wild, fragile beauty, makes this perhaps Scotland's most evocative region. The scenic majesty is never forgotten.” |
Scotland’s North-West Coast is indeed a place of beauty. A place that has inspired me to pick up a camera and embark on a journey to capture and share a little of that beauty. This journey, a photographic journey, started in November 2012 when I went on an introduction to landscape photography course gifted to me by my wonderful wee wife, Lynne. This opened my eyes to the true beauty of Scotland’s landscape.
It is a beauty that can only be truly appreciated by taking time out from our busy modern-day lives to take a look. And I mean really take a look. Look at the landscape. Look at the light. Look at Scotland. |
