Photography for Beginners
Have you just got a new camera, but are not sure how to use it and confused by all the buttons and features?
Have you had your camera a little while, but are stuck using auto and standard icon modes and want to take better photographs? Then why not take some time to learn how to get the best out of your camera with some one-to-one tuition that will show you how to take full control? |
I offer one-to-one beginners photography sessions throughout the West Highland Peninsulas of Sunart, Morvern, Moidart, Ardgour and Ardnamurchan. So, if you live in the area or are planning to be here on holiday, then one of these sessions could be for you.
As everyone’s needs are different, your session will be tailored to your needs, depending on how well you know your camera and understand photography. However, we will focus on two aspects. Firstly, how to take control of your camera and secondly how to take creative control of your photography.
Each session will be around 4 hours long and would normally be held at or near our base at Rockpool House on the shore of Loch Sunart. However, I can do the session at a location of your choosing in Sunart, Morvern, Moidart, Ardgour or Ardnamurchan but there would be a charge for travel time.
I will begin with a few questions to help me understand what you would like to get out of the session, followed by some time to cover how your camera works and then composition, aperture, exposure time and ISO setting. For the final part of the session I will bring it all together so that you can practice your new skills by photographing the stunning scenery we have in this area.
By the end of it all you will be able to shoot in Manual Mode and control the brightness, focus and motion blur in your photos. You will also have a basic understanding of composition and some simple rules to make your photos more dramatic and aesthetically pleasing.
All you’ll need for the session will be your digital camera, fully charged batteries and your instruction manual. Also, if you have a tripod, please bring it along, but if not, I can loan you with one. Also, don’t worry if the sessions overrun a little as the most important thing is that you get what you need out of them.
